[source] it is the root or trunk heartwood of Vitex negundo.
[plant morphology] Vitex trifolia
Trees, up to 10-20 m high. The heartwood is yellowish brown with strong odor. Palmate compound leaves opposite, petiole 5-10 cm long; leaflets 5, few 3, middle leaflet largest, lanceolate, 5-12 cm long, 2-3 cm wide, apex long acuminate, base cuneate, entire, glabrous, scattered white glandular dots above, yellow glandular dots below. Panicles axillary, 10-20 cm long, covered with gray hairs; bracts linear; calyx cup-shaped, truncate, pubescent, enlarged as a disk when bearing fruit; corolla yellow white. Drupe ovoid with persistent calyx at the bottom. The flowering period is late autumn and early winter.
Born in forest or cultivated. Distributed in Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi and other places.
