Onion
Perennial herb with strong aroma. The bulb is large, globose or oblate, covered with reddish red membrane. Leaves cylindrical, hollow; about 25-50 cm long, about 1-1.5 cm in diameter, the thickest below the middle; green, with white powder. Scapes up to 1 m high, cylindrical, hollow, below the middle expanded, diameter up to 3 cm; umbels, spherical, wrapped with 2-3 reversed bracts; petiole less than 2.5 cm long; perianth 6, arranged in two rounds, pink or nearly white, perianth obovate lanceolate, apex pointed; stamen 6, protruding, filament base wide; pistil 1, ovary superior, triangular, 3-locular Style filiform, stigma small. Capsule, loculicidal, containing many seeds. Seeds oblate, black. The flowering period is from June to July.
