Perennial herbs, 50-70 cm high, all densely yellowish pilose. The rhizome is short and thick with many fibrous roots. The basal leaves are pinnate compound, with long stalks and obvious stipules. The apical leaflets are large and blunt, and the leaflets on both sides are of different sizes. The margins of the leaflets are coarsely serrated or notched, and the base is cuneate. The stem leaves are alternate, and the smaller they are toward the top of the stem. Flowers solitary or arranged in corymb, yellow; accessory sepals linear lanceolate; calyx lobes ovate triangular; 5 petals; pistils and pistils are majority. Achene slender, with persistent long spiny style. When fruiting, receptacle is yellowish hirsute. The flowering period is from June to July. The fruit period is from August to September.
