Evergreen shrub, 0.5-1 m high, with many slender branches. Leaves opposite, sparsely alternate, papery to nearly leathery; leaves oblong or obovate to oblanceolate oblong, 1.5-4 cm long, 0.6-1.7 cm wide, apex obtuse or spiny convex, entire, slightly rolled down, lateral veins 6-11 pairs, netted close to leaf margin; petioles very short. Panicle terminal or axillary, sometimes clustered or solitary short raceme; pedicel glabrous; flowers few, yellow; perianth tubular, glabrous or sparsely pubescent, 5-6 mm long, lobes 4, ovate; stamen 8; disk scale 1, subsquare, apex 2-lobed; ovary obovate, style very short, stigma capitate, sparsely pubescent near stigma. Fruit ovate, purple black at maturity, apex hairy; seed 1. The flowering period is from July to September. From August to October.
Born on the edge of ditch, slope and ridge. It is distributed in Sichuan, Hubei, Shaanxi and Yunnan.
