[plant morphology] Populus tuanye
Deciduous tree, 5-10m high. Bark grayish white, branches round rodlike, brown or grayish brown, pubescent when young. The leaves are simple, alternate, ovoid, 4-5 cm long, apex pointed, base cordate, with two prominent glands, margin with microwavy teeth. The upper part is dark green, glabrous, and the lower part is light green, with gray fine hairs when tender, falling off when old; the petiole is 3-4 cm long. Flowers unisexual; inflorescences axillary. Capsule elliptic, glabrous.
Born in sunny hillside forest. It is distributed in Yunnan and other places.

Functions and indications: heat clearing and detoxification, anti-inflammatory, diuretic and insecticidal. Treatment of nephritis, cold, Ascaris, toothache.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 1-2 yuan. External use: put a piece of fresh bark on the sore part of teeth.
