[plant morphology] Ampelopsis parviflora
Evergreen woody vine like shrub. The roots are long. Branches slender, grayish brown in appearance; young branches covered with rust colored glandular hairs. The leaves are alternate, arranged in two rows. The leaves are oblong ovate, 0.5-1.8 cm long and 0.3-0.9 cm wide. The apex is obtuse, the base is round or heart-shaped. There are yellow glandular hairs on the main veins. The leaves are densely covered with golden yellow oil spots. The petioles are short. The flowers are unisexual, small, greenish white or purple, and have petioles. The inflorescences are clustered on the lateral or apical branches. The base of inflorescences is slightly scaly. The calyx is 4-5-lobed, Petals 4-5, imbricate, abaxially smooth and glabrous; stamens 4-5, inserted on petals, ovary degenerated in male flowers, conical, spherical or ovate in female flowers, style cylindrical, stigma capitate. Drupe globose, red, ca. 4 mm in diam. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruit period is from August to September.
It grows on the edge of shrubbery and on the hillside where it is shady and humid. It is distributed in Guangdong, Yunnan, Guizhou and other places.
