[plant morphology] white drum nail

Annual generation of perennial herbs, white pubescence, 15-25 cm high. Stems slender and hard, dichotomous branched, numerous. Leaves narrowly linear to conic apex, rarely linear lanceolate, flat or margin retrorse. The longer ones are 12-25 mm long, the upper leaves are small and scattered; stipules are long lanceolate, apex long and pointed, about half of the length of leaves. Flowers numerous, dense, terminal, corymbose or cymose, sometimes densely at the top of a single stem, sometimes cymose numerous in panicle arrangement; bracts membranous; sepals 5, lanceolate, white, membranous, ca. 2.5 mm, apex apical; petals 5. Seperate, broadly ovate, apex obtuse, shorter than sepals; stamens 5; short; style short. Fruit ovoid or oblong, shorter than sepals, 3-valved. The flowering period is from spring to autumn.

Born in hilly sandy land. Distributed in Fujian, Guangdong and other places.
