Herbs perennial, up to 50 cm tall. The main root is thick and short, the fibrous root is developed, more and thick, 10-14 cm long, about 3 mm in diameter, branched near the apex. Stem erect, smooth, glabrous, with 4-5 nodes. The leaves are oblong ovate or oblong, 10-17 cm long and 8 cm wide, apex acuminate, obtuse, margin crenate, apex awned, base narrowed, broadly cuneate, smooth on both sides, abaxial veins covered with white pilose; sessile or nearly sessile. Spikes usually 2-branched, straight out of the top of the branch, 12 cm long, flowers bisexual and unisexual, small, white, about 2-3 mm in diameter; male flowers without perianth, stamens 3, obovate, united into 1-lamellar body, 3-lobed. Drupe, ovoid or globose, apex acuminate, exocarp fleshy, fruit ca. 3. 5 mm long, ca. 2 mm wide. The flowering period is April.
He was born under the forest in Zhongshan District. It is distributed in Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan and Zhejiang.

Perennial herbs, about 30 cm high. The stem is erect with few branches, and the nodes are obvious and slightly expanded. The lower part of the stem has opposite leaves, which are as small as scales, embracing the stem; the top leaves of the stem are in whorls, usually 4 pieces, broad elliptic (the young are ovoid), the apex is pointed or short, the base is gradually pointed or pointed, the whole edge is light green above, light green below, glandular spots can be seen on both sides; the petiole is very short. Flowers clustered at the top of stem, several to 10; pedicel about 7 mm long; calyx lower part united into a spherical, upper 5-lobed, lobes linear lanceolate; corolla yellow, 5-lobed; stamens 5, inserted in corolla tube; ovary spherical, style slender, 1-locular. Capsule globose, 5-valved after ripening. The flowering period is May. The fruit period is from May to June.
Born in the mountains. It is distributed in Sichuan, Guizhou and Hunan.
