Annual, scattered, delicate herbs, 15-50 cm high, glabrous or powdery pubescence. Stem much branched, glabrous or sparsely pilose. Leaves opposite, sessile or shortly stipitate; leaf blade linear lanceolate, or linear, 1.5-3 cm long, 1.5-3.5 mm wide, margin rough, often curled to the back; stipules small, membranous, united into sheath, 1-1.5 mm long, truncated, apex with short bristles. Inflorescence axillary, mostly 2-5 arranged into corymbs, rare and solitary; peduncle linear, 0.6-2 cm long; calyx broadly ovate, about 2.5 mm long, apex 4-toothed, outer pubescent; corolla funnel-shaped, white or light red, 2.5 mm long, lobes 4; stamens 4; ovary 2-locular, style linear, slightly extended, stigma 2-lobed. Capsule globose, ca. 2. 5 mm in diam., apically truncate, loculicidal, calyx persistent. The seeds are small and numerous. The flowering period is from July to September. The fruit period is from September to October.
Born on roadsides, streams, open fields, gardens. It is distributed in the southeast and southwest of China.
