[plant morphology] Mopan grass
It grows perennial, erect, branched, subshrub like herbs in a year, 0.5-2.5 meters high, all covered with gray pubescence. Leaves alternate, long petiole; ovate to broadly ovate, 3-9 cm long, 2.5-7 cm wide, apex short, base cordate, margin irregularly crenate, both sides covered with gray pubescence. Flowers solitary, leaf axils, yellow, 2-2.5 cm in diameter; long petiole, with nodes near the top; calyx discoid, 5-lobed, green, densely covered with gray pubescence, lobes broad ovate, short pointed; petals 5, more than 2 times longer than calyx; stamens numerous, filaments base connected into a short tube; ovary superior, carpel 15-20, arranged in whorls. The capsule is round like a millstone, about 1.5 cm high and 2 cm wide, with 15-20 mericarps and a short awn at the top. Seeds reniform, stellate puberulent.
Born in sand, wilderness, or roadside. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Fujian, Taiwan and other places.

[herbal medicine] the dry whole grass is about 2 cm thick, with branches, reticulate wrinkles on the outer skin, light gray brown, like a powder, and soft and smooth when touched. The leaves are wrinkled, light grayish green, with light color on the back, a few of them are light yellowish brown, pubescent, flexible by hand, not fragile on the surface, sometimes with flowers or fruits in the axils. Qi is weak.
It is produced in Guangxi and Guangdong.
