[plant morphology] Abutilon, also known as white hemp (compendium), green hemp, yeqima, bajiaowu, kongma.
Annual herb, 1-2 meters high, cultivated up to 3-4 meters. Stem erect, pilose. Leaves alternate, heart-shaped, 7-18 cm in diameter, apex pointed, base heart-shaped, margin crenate, both sides densely pilose; petiole 8-18 cm long. Flowers solitary in leaf axils; pedicels 0.8-2.5 cm long, stout; calyx green, lower tubular, upper 5-lobed, lobes oval, apex sharp; petals 5; yellow, slightly longer than calyx, petals with obvious veins; stamens very short; carpels 15-20, 1-1.5 cm long, apically truncated, arranged in whorls, densely covered with soft hairs, each carpel has two long awns expanded and covered with hairs. Capsule dehisces after ripening; seeds reniform, brown, hairy. The flowering period is from July to August. The fruit period is from September to October.
Common in roadsides, fields, wasteland, embankment, or cultivation. It is distributed all over the country.
