Perennial herbs, 60-90 cm high. Rhizome short, with many fibrous roots. Stem 2-branched. Single leaf alternate, oblong, apex acuminate, base heart-shaped amplexicaul, above green, below with frost. Flowers solitary, leaf axils; perianth segments 6, white, lower part and veins purplish. Berries globose.
Born in the shady mountain forest. Distributed in Tibet, Shaanxi, Sichuan and other places.
