Evergreen shrubs or small trees, 4-10m high. Leaf blade thick leathery, elliptic, ovate or broadly ovate, 5-8 cm long and 3-5 cm wide, base usually broadly cuneate, apex acuminate or short tail pointed, glabrous above, glossy below, sparsely pilose below. Flowers unisexual, dioecious; umbels axillary, solitary or paired, with short pedicels; bracts hairy, caducous; flowers yellow, 4.5-8 mm in diam., hairy; male perianth lobes 6, ovate, ca. 2.5 mm long; stamens 9, anthers 2-locular, fully intropetaled, drupe ovate, ca. 8 mm long, red at maturity, in a small perianth cup.
