[collection] in winter, the unripe areca fruits were collected, put into a wooden steamer, evaporated thoroughly (about 4 hours), burned with semi dry wet firewood and smoked to dry, or boiled with water for 3-4 hours, then dried, called soft and dry. From February to March, the nuts picked and processed by the above method are called hard dry.

It is a long oval shape, 5-6cm long and 2cm wide, with dark brown to nearly black appearance, dense longitudinal wrinkles and slight luster. One end of the fruit has a stalk and persistent calyx. After it is cut open, there is an immature seed, which is reddish brown, thin, wrinkled and fragrant.
② Hard drying
Its shape is similar to that of the soft and dry nut, but its round diameter is slightly larger and its width is 3-4cm; its seeds are also slightly round and hard, and its aroma is weak. Round, fine wrinkled, long body and Brown are the best.
It is mainly produced in Guangdong and Guangxi.
