The body is oblong, 16-21 mm long and 8-11 mm wide. Dark brown, glossy, covered with yellowish brown hairs. Antennae yellowish brown, 10 nodes, geniculate. The adults live in the soil and lie in the daytime and rise at night. They appear in groups from mid June to late July and disappear in early October. Before wheat harvest, they usually copulate and feed on wheat and sunflower; after summer sowing, they copulate and feed on soybean and millet. After mating, the females lay eggs in the soil and die immediately. Grubs live in soil 3-6 cm deep and eat the roots of crops.
