Annual or perennial herbs, 30-50 cm high, all pilose. Stem erect, square, purplish. Single leaf opposite; leaf blade papery; ovate or ovate lanceolate, 2-4.5 cm long, margin obtuse serrate. Cymes or racemes, axillary, with 3-5 flowers, white or light yellow; bracts linear or linear lanceolate; calyx long bell shaped, calyx tube narrow, 2-lipped, upper lip 3-toothed, lower lip 2-toothed, narrower and sharper than upper lip teeth; corolla curved, 2-lipped, upper lip erect, concave, lower lip extended, 3-lobed, inner surface sparsely white hair; stamens 4; style short, 2-lobed. Nutlets broadly ovate, smooth. The flowering period is from June to July. The fruit period is from August to September.
It grows in the grass on the sunny side of the hillside in the low mountain area. It is distributed from the southwest to the east of China.
