The body is oblong with smooth surface. It is about 12 cm in length and 7 mm in width. It consists of 64 somites from cervical plate to anal segment. There are many monocular eyes on both sides of the head, which gather into two groups, similar to compound eyes. Antennae 1 pair, hairy, ca. 5 mm. The mouthparts consist of one pair of maxilla and one pair of maxilla, and the maxilla heals to form the lip. There are only three pairs of feet in the larva, and the number of somites and feet increases with each peeling.
Most of them live in wet and shady areas. They eat grass roots and rotten plants. When they touch them, they curl up and give off stench. It is distributed in most parts of the country.
