Caragana

Caragana intermedia
Dwarf shrub, 30-100 cm high, much branched. The bark is yellowish gray, yellowish green or yellowish white; the young branches are silky pilose and the branches are elongated; the stipules on the long branches are persistent and hardened into needles, 3-10 mm long. It has double pinnate compound leaves, 6-18 leaflets, elliptic or obovate elliptic, apex rounded or acute, with fine needle tip, base broadly cuneate, both sides densely covered with gray white pubescence. Flowers usually solitary, or clustered on short branches, pedicel 15-25 mm long, middle upper part articulated; calyx bell shaped; corolla butterfly shaped, yellow, 2-2.5 cm long. Pods lanceolate, apical, 2-2.5 cm long, thick leathery. The seeds are red. The flowering period is from May to June.
It grows on sand dunes, hillsides and dry slopes. Distributed in Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Gansu and other places.
