[source] it is the rhizome of Fagopyrum cymosum (Trev.) Meisn.
[plant morphology] perennial herb, 0.5-1.5 m high. Rhizome thick, nodular, transverse, reddish brown, stem erect, grooved, green or reddish brown. Leaves alternate, Euphorbia new poetry triangle, length and width are almost equal, apex protruding, base heart-shaped Euphorbia, edge wavy; Stipule sheath subtubular oblique, membranous. Flowers small, integrated into terminal or axillary cymes; tepals 5, white; stamens 8; ovary superior, style 3. Achenes ovate, 3-ribbed, reddish brown. The flowering period is from July to September, and the fruiting period is from October to November.
It is found on hillside, wilderness, roadside and wet places. It is mainly produced in Jiangsu and Zhejiang.
