[collection] dig underground roots in spring and summer, wash and dry them. Or use fresh products temporarily.
[herbal medicine] the root is cylindrical, often serpentine curved, 5-15 cm long or longer, 2-5 mm in diameter. The surface is light brown, slightly reddish, smooth, densely covered with small brown red spots, or distributed with sparse fine root scars. The skin is thicker than the wood, accounting for about 3 / 5 of the cross section. The wood is light yellow, and the two parts are easy to separate.
[flavor] it tastes pungent and astringent.
