(Ben Jing)

[synonyms] wax (behind the elbow), honey (herbal Classic), beeswax (Modern Practical Chinese Medicine).

[source] it is a refined wax secreted by worker bees such as Apis cerana cerana. See "honey" for animal morphology.

[acquisition] two seasons in spring and autumn, the honeycomb will be removed from honey after being heated and melted into the water pot, removing the upper layer of foam impurities, then being filtered and cooled, and the wax can be condensed into blocks and floated on the water surface and removed, that is, yellow wax. Yellow wax is then refined and decolorized into white wax.

Most of them are irregular blocks of different sizes, all of them are yellow or yellowish brown, opaque or slightly transparent. The surface is smooth and greasy. It is light and can float on the water surface. It is soft and brittle when it is cold. The broken section is granular. It can be softened when it is kneaded by hand. Honey like aroma, taste, chew delicate and sticky. Insoluble in water, soluble in dry ether and chloroform. It is better to be yellow, pure, soft, greasy and honey like.

② White wax (bielu), also known as beeswax. It is a white block. The quality is pure. The odor is weak, others are the same as yellow wax.

It is produced in most parts of the country.
