It is a perennial herb with a height of 60-80 cm and dense white villi. The stem is straight and branched. Basal leaves and lower stem leaves are stipitate, oblong oblanceolate, apex obtuse and slightly convex, base narrow; upper leaves sessile, lanceolate, acute. The flowers are purplish red, and then turn blue; the sepals are persistent after anthesis; the Corolla is about 5 mm in diameter, with rounded petals and scales at the base; the stamens are 5, short and small, inserted in the middle of corolla tube. Nutlets obovate, 6 mm long, densely covered with short uncinate spines, apex of spines anchored. The flowering period is from May to August.
It grows in semi fixed sandy land, flat sandy land, field side and village side. Distributed in Liaoning, Jilin, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi and other places.
