[plant morphology] xiangmianye
Small trees, 4-12m high. Young shoots and leaves covered with yellow or rust colored pubescence. Leaves alternate, nearly leathery, ovoid or oblong elliptic, 6-9 cm long and 2-3 cm wide, apex caudate acuminate, base broadly cuneate, dark green above, yellow or rust pubescent below, veins 3 from base; petiole about 1 cm long, hairy. Flowers small, yellowish green, unisexual, dioecious; solitary or clustered spikes; perianth segments 6, oblong; fertile stamens 9, anthers 2-locular, intropetal lobed. The fruit is spherical, 5-6 mm in diameter. The flowering period is from February to March.
In sparse forest or hillside shrub. It is distributed in Yunnan, Guangxi and other places.
