Low semi shrubby perennial herbs, all sparsely covered with enlarged prickles. Stem creeping or upward, 10-30 cm high. Leaflets oblong or elliptic lanceolate, terminal leaflets almost twice larger than lateral leaflets, 4-6 cm long, often 2-lobed near base, margin irregularly serrate, glabrous on both sides, spines on lower veins; petioles and rachis scattered; stipules lanceolate, sparsely toothed. The flowers are small, white, solitary or 2-3 to form corymbs, axillary or terminal; calyx lobes ovate, apex caudal, densely spiny outside, hairy inside; stamens and pistils are numerous. The aggregate fruit is oblate and orange yellow.
It is distributed in Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Sichuan and other provinces.
[collection] dig in spring and autumn, remove fibrous roots, wash and dry.
Sour and slightly cold.
[function indications] antiphlogistic and analgesic. Treat conjunctivitis, blepharitis, nameless swelling toxin.
