Biennial erect herbs, 15-90 cm high, many branched. Stem square, pubescent. Leaves oblong or lanceolate, 2-6 cm long, 8-25 mm wide, apex obtuse or acute, base rounded cuneate, margin serrate, below golden glandular dots, veins pubescent; petiole 4-15 mm long. Cymes with 2-6 flowers, axillary or terminal, integrated into many round panicle racemes; bracts lanceolate; calyx campanulate, 2.7 mm long, with golden yellow gland spots on the outside, pubescence on the veins, divided into 2 lips, 5 veins on the upper lip, 2 teeth and 6 veins on the lower lip, teeth in an equilateral triangle, top acute; corolla purple, 4.5 mm long, hairy ring on the inner surface of corolla tube, upper lip oblong There are 3 lobes on the lower lip, the middle lobe is heart-shaped, and the lateral lobes are nearly semicircular: 2 stamens are developed at the base of the lower lip, protruding out of the corolla tube, and anthers are 1-locular. It grows in wasteland or roadside along the river and distributes in Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Taiwan, etc.

[chemical constituents] the whole herb contains flavonoids: plantain, ragweed, Eupatorium cuneatum and its 7-glucoside. It also contains phenolic substances, volatile oil, saponins, cardiac glycosides, unsaturated sterols and polyterpenes. Seeds contain fatty oil.
[pharmacological action] litchi herb decoction can prolong the cough latency of mice induced by sulfur dioxide, but it has no antitussive effect, but it can prolong the overturning time of guinea pigs induced by histamine, that is, it has antiasthmatic effect; the volatile oil extracted from Litchi herb, made into emulsion, has neither antitussive nor antiasthmatic effect, if combined with the extract of Populus alba, it has antitussive effect. The ethanol extract can inhibit Staphylococcus aureus, koji octadiensis and Bacillus subtilis in vitro. The decoction could inhibit or kill Leptospira in vitro (direct microscopy 1.9 mg / ml, culture 3.9 mg / ml).

[clinical application] ① treatment of vaginitis and cervical erosion
Take 1 jin of fresh litchi grass, wash and chop it, add 6-7 Jin of water, boil for 10 minutes, and then filter to form a washing agent; take another Jin of fresh litchi grass, wash and chop it, add 1000 ml of water, boil it to pieces, put it into 2 layers of gauze to extrude the juice, and then filter with 6 layers of gauze, and concentrate to 500 ml. During the treatment, the vagina was flushed with irrigating agent, and then the concentrated agent was infused into the cervix of vagina with dry cotton ball. Once a day, 7 days as a course of treatment, 2-3 days interval for the second course of treatment. 441 Cases were observed, including 140 cases of vaginitis and 301 cases of cervical erosion. After one course of treatment, 82 cases (63.7%) of vaginitis and 67 cases (28.4%) of cervical erosion were cured; in the second course, 33 cases (25.6%) of vaginitis and 72 cases (30.5%) of cervical erosion were cured; in the third course, 14 cases (10.9%) of vaginitis and 97 cases (40.1%) of cervical erosion were cured. A total of 129 cases of vaginitis (92.13%) and 236 cases of cervical erosion (78.65%) were cured. Those who were not cured also improved to varying degrees. Three months after the cure, 19 cases of vaginitis were reexamined, and no recurrence was found, only 2 cases of vaginal mucosa had mild congestion, but no conscious symptoms; 27 cases of cervical erosion were reexamined, and 3 cases had different degrees of recurrence, but the conscious symptoms were very light.
② Treatment of chronic tracheitis
Observation of various preparations: yixiancao tablet: remove the roots of litchi grass, crush it, sift it to powder, use 2 jin fresh grass (remove the roots) to decoct the concentrated juice and 1 jin dry powder, rub it into granules and press it into tablets, each tablet weighs 0.5g. 5 g each time, twice a day. Erxiancao injection: take the fresh product and make it into an injection containing about 1.4g crude drug per ml. 5ml twice a day, intramuscular injection.
