Pterocephalum

[plant morphology] pterocephalum, also known as pterocephalum spatulatum.
Herbs perennial, up to 50 cm tall, hairy throughout. Root straight, cylindrical, dark brown. The root of the leaf is spatulate or strip spatulate, entire or pinnate, 5-10 cm long and 1.5-2 cm wide, apex obtuse, base narrowed into petiole. Inflorescence terminal; involucral bracts leaflike, ovate oblong; flowers white to pink; calyx teeth bristly, bristles densely covered with silver white villous; corolla 2-lipped, upper lip short, 2-lobed, lower lip large, 3-lobed. Stamens 4, slightly outstretched: inferior to ovary, enclosed in cup-shaped long hairy involucre. Achenes obovate, flat, densely covered with silvery white villi.
Born in alpine grassland, roadside and stone gap, etc. It is distributed in Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet.
