Perennial erect herb, 30-70 cm high, densely covered with yellow setae and stellate hairs. The roots are thick and spindle shaped. Single leaf alternate; broad ovate to broad heart-shaped; upper stem leaves sometimes arrowhead shaped, 10-15 cm long, margin dentate; stipules linear. A few flowers are on the top of the branch, racemose or solitary; epicalyx is linear, 10-15, curved, hirsute; calyx 5, hirsute; petal 5, base united, yellow, central purple, long elliptic; stamens mostly; stigma 5, purplish red. Capsule ovoid, sulcate. Seeds reniform. The flowering period is from July to September. The fruit period is autumn.
It grows in the warm and dry valley and on the grass slope with rich soil. It is distributed in Sichuan, Yunnan and other places.

[function indications] it is used to treat fire injury caused by soup and burning skin. Soak in sesame oil for half a month and apply it to the wound.
