Perennial herbs, densely white woolly, 30-70 cm high. The leaves are linear lanceolate, about 8 cm long and 1.5 cm wide, tapering upward, acuminate, entire, often clasping at the base, auricular, apex pointed, green on the top and white on the bottom, with white woolly hairs on both sides. The inflorescence is terminal, 8-10 mm in diameter, arranged into cymes; the involucre is multi-layered, white, dry membranous, oval oval, 5 mm long, apex obtuse, erect or inward curved; the flowers are yellowish white; the edge is female, most of them are fruity, the middle part is bisexual, and most of them are infertile. Achene oblong, white, 1-lobed, feathery; seed 1. It blooms in summer.
Born on sunny hillside and field. It is distributed in Sichuan, Guizhou, Hubei and other places.
[collection] in spring and summer, when the flower bud is first released, dig up the roots, remove the sediment and dry in the sun.
[medicinal material] dried whole grass with roots, small root head, 1-3cm long. The stem is about 30-50 cm long and 5 mm in diameter. The tip of the stem is becoming smaller and smaller, with few branches. The appearance of the stem is densely covered with white filamentous hairs. After being pulled off, the stem shows yellowish green, fine and short hairs. The leaves are shrunken and brown, with white hairs on both sides, but shorter than the stem hairs. Many flowers don't exist. It's smelly and weak. It is better to have strong stems and leaves.
