[plant morphology] Populus simonii
Deciduous tree, up to 30 meters high, broad ovate crown. The bark is gray white; the bud is long, yellow red, sticky. Leaves elliptic ovate, broadly ovate or rhombic ovate, 5.3-9 cm long. The width is 3.3-5.2 cm, the widest leaf is below the middle, the top is smooth and glabrous, the bottom is bluish white green, the apex is acuminate, the base is cuneate, and the edge is serrated; the petiole is 2.2-4.8 cm long; the leaves of germinating branches grow on the short petiole, green or reddish, long elliptic, large, and the edge is wavy. Flowers dioecious: female inflorescence 8-11 cm long; male inflorescence 5-8 cm long. The capsule is oblong, 2-3-valved, flowering in April. The fruit period is June.
It grows on the river and sand. It is widely cultivated in Northeast China.

[function indications] detoxification. It is used to treat stubborn tinea.
[prescription selection] 1. To treat dry and wet tinea: appropriate amount of tender poplar skin, baking black, adding the same amount of alum, grinding fine powder, and applying sesame oil to the affected area.
② Zhidaizhi: take tender skin from poplar branch and wrap it on finger.
③ Treatment of white pus blisters, itching and pain in fingers and palms: four coins of Populus simonii, four coins of peach leaves, dried in the shade, grind fine powder together, add four taels of pig liver, mash and apply to the affected area, change dressing once a day.
