Perennial creeping herbs. Branches erect, hirsute. The stem creeps on the ground and takes root when touching the ground, 15-90 cm long. Leaves opposite; nearly sessile; obovate, 1-2.5 cm long, thick, apex obtuse or rounded, margin serrate above middle, base narrowly cuneate. Spikes, axillary; flowers small and dense, inflorescence long elliptic, 1-2 cm long; peduncle very long, 2-6 cm long; calyx bell shaped, 2-lobed, very small; corolla nearly lip shaped, light red; stamens 4, concealed, 2 long, 2 short; pistils 1, 2 carpels, 2 chambers, 1 ovule per chamber. Fruit dry, less than 2 mm in diameter, enclosed in persistent calyx and divided into 2 nutlets at maturity. The flowering period is August.
Most of them grow in sand on both sides of sunny streams and riverbanks. It is distributed in Sichuan and other places.
