Herbs twining perennial, all puberulent. Stem cylindric, upper part much branched. Leaves opposite, with long stalks; leaves broadly ovate, 5-11 cm wide, apex pointed, entire, base deeply cordate, both sides auricular, decumbent or incurved. The flowers are yellow and white; the calyx and corolla are 5-lobed, and the lobes are rolled downward; the accessory corolla is 5-subulate lanceolate, higher than the stigma; the stamen is 5-inserted at the base of the corolla, the filaments are tubular, and the anthers are attached around the stigma; the pistil is composed of 2 carpels. Follicles about 11 cm long and 1.2 cm wide, dehiscent along one side when heated. Seeds ovate and flat, brown, apex with a bunch of white long villi. The flowering period is from August to October. The fruit ripens in November.

It grows on the hillside, under the woods or beside the road. It is distributed in all provinces of the Yangtze River Basin in China, from the south to Guangdong.
