Evergreen climbing or creeping shrub, 1-1.5m high, slender stem with stipe glandular hairs, or abscission, scattered small hook like prickles. Leaves alternate; nearly leathery; ovate lanceolate or oblong ovate, 8-15 cm long and 4-7 cm wide, apex acuminate, base deeply cordate, margin sparsely serrate with convex head, near base often lobulate, both sides glabrous, lower midrib and petiole with prickles; petiole 2-3 cm long. Panicle terminal, 15-25 cm long, or axillary racemes of its lower leaves; flowers white, 6-8 mm in diameter; pedicel short, sparsely pilose and glandular hairs; calyx 5-lobed, lobes lanceolate, apex subulate. Fruit reflexed; inner and outer surfaces pilose; petals shorter than calyx lobes; stamens many, filaments flat; carpels many, separated. The aggregate fruit is spherical, 5-7 mm in diameter, red, with only more than 10 small drupes. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruit period is from June to August.
It grows in the hillside shrub, roadside and forest edge. Distributed in Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Hubei and other places.
