[collection] harvest the fruit or cut the whole plant in autumn, dry it in the sun, lay seeds and remove impurities.
[chemical constituents] the volatile oil in the fruit is 3.5-7% zanthoxyl oil. The main components of the oil are d-caraganone 50-60% and d-limonene.
(1) antiasthmatic effect
Artemisia ordosica seed oil or caraway seed oil mainly contains d-carapace ketone, which has antiasthmatic effect (guinea pig histamine method); it has antitussive effect on mice (ammonia method), but it has no effect on cough caused by electrical stimulation of cat's superior laryngeal nerve, so it has no effect on cough center.
② Antibacterial action
However, it has been reported that carapace oil has antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli in vitro, and has some antifungal effects. High concentration (1:1000 or more) can kill Hirudo bovis.
③ Effect on gastrointestinal tract
The oil of caraway seed has the effect of invigorating stomach and expelling wind, and the oral administration of carapace ketone has the excitatory effect on the small intestine of rabbits.
④ Other functions
The increase of vitamin C excretion in urine is due to the increased production of vitamin C in the liver. The results showed that there was no significant effect on the excretion of glucuronic acid in the urine of rats treated with single administration of progesterone; the same as intraperitoneal injection of glucuronic acid preparations, the urinary glucuronic acid and vitamin C were significantly increased compared with the control group, so progesterone may promote the formation of vitamin C from glucose in the liver. Vitamin C has a certain relationship with the formation of thrombin in the liver. Long term administration of progesterone can prevent coumarin induced bleeding in rats. In addition, the seed extract has diuretic effect on rabbits by intragastric administration, and the excretion of chloride in urine is increased, while morphine can resist this diuretic effect; a plant lectin was also proposed in fresh seeds, which only has effect on human red blood cells; it has no effect on cattle and sheep. It also has some cholagogic effects, but it has no effect on ECG when the rabbits are given 0.1-0.2 ml / kg orally.
[toxicity] the median lethal dose (LD50) was 1.3 ± 0.1 ml / kg in mice after intragastric administration of carapace ketone. The median lethal dose was 1.64 g / kg. If glucuronic acid preparation, vitamin C (400 mg / kg) or glucose (2 g / kg) were injected intraperitoneally in the first 2 hours, the lethal effect of carapace ketone (4 g / kg) could be antagonized. If the dogs were given slow intravenous drip, the lethal dose of carapace ketone was 0.34 G / kg.
