[source] it is the root of Celastraceae.
[plant morphology] Celastrus orbiculatus, also known as Bogen Teng and luoshuanghong.
Rattan shrubs, up to 5 m high. Branchlets powdered when young. Leaves alternate, elliptic or broadly elliptic, 6-14 cm long and 5-7 cm wide, apex short acuminate, base broadly cuneate, abaxially powdery, sometimes with sparse hairs on veins; petiole 1-1.5 cm long. Cyme panicle terminal, 6-12 cm long, axillary inflorescence short, 3-7 flowers; pedicel 2-8 mm long, above the middle joint: flowers white green, 4-number, unisexual, male flowers with degenerate ovary; female flowers with short filaments of degenerate stamens, ovary with slender style, stigma 3-lobed, flat. The inflorescence is terminal, long and drooping, and the axillary flowers are mostly fruitless; the capsule is long stemmed, sparse, globose, orange yellow, with cherry red spots on the inner side of the pericarp lobes. The seeds are dark brown with orange red aril.
They live in the mountains and forests. It is distributed in Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Anhui and other places.

[chemical constituents] the leaves contain flavonol compounds, known as kaempferin, namely kaempferol-3,7-di-rhamnoside, with the content of 1.3%; kaempferol-7-rhamnoside, 3-glucoside, with the content of 0.8%; quercetin-3-rhamnoside, 7-glucoside, etc.
