[plant morphology] calyx

Deciduous trees, up to 20 m high. The bark is gray white and smooth; the branchlets are stout with large and round leaf marks. The leaves are odd pinnate, 80 cm long, alternate; the leaflets are 7-15, opposite, oblong. Narrowly ovate or narrowly obovate, asymmetrical, base rounded or broadly cuneate, apex short acuminate, entire, glabrous above, glossy below, pink white below, with brown tufts along midvein. Raceme terminal, rachis densely rusty pilose; calyx campanulate, with inconspicuous 5 teeth, outside densely pilose; petals 5, pink; stamens 5-9; ovary 3-locular. Capsule ellipsoid or subglobose, woody. Seeds subglobose.

It grows in mountain forest at an altitude of 500-4500m. Distributed in eastern Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Hunan, Guizhou, Hubei, Sichuan and other places.
