Herbs perennial, less than 40 cm tall. Rhizome thick, long and transverse, apex densely covered with scales; scales ovate lanceolate, acuminate, brownish brown, dentate, mesh dense, center dark. Leaf blade linear, 15-40 cm long, 1 cm wide, not hairy and scaly, leathery, grayish green. The sporangia are large, ovoid, oblong and oblique when young. They are located between the middle rib and the margin. They are closely connected when mature and covered by shield scales when young.
Born on shady rocks or trees. It is distributed in Yunnan, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Western Hubei and Tibet.
