Huangtu town has a long history and is one of the birthplaces of "Liangzhu Culture" more than 5000 years ago. In 2017, Huangtu town achieved a GDP of 23 billion yuan, fixed asset investment of 6.7 billion yuan and public budget revenue of 680 million yuan.
In May 2019, Huangtu town was reexamined and confirmed as a national health county (township); in December of the same year, Huangtu town was selected into the list of "2016-2018 civilized towns in Jiangsu Province".
Historical evolution
Huangtu was located in Licheng County in the eighth year of Yuanjia (431) of Song Dynasty.
In 589, Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty abolished Licheng County, and Huangtu belonged to Jiangyin county.
Tang Gaozu Wude three years (620), the restoration of Licheng County, Wude nine years (626) abandoned. Since then, Huangtu has always been under the jurisdiction of Jiangyin county.
In song and Yuan Dynasties, Huangtu belonged to Liangxin township of Jiangyin county.
The Ming Dynasty inherited the song system.
In 1644, Huangtu belonged to Licheng and Qianzhou respectively.
In 1953, Huangtu, Huahu, Huangcun and Huinan were established.
In 1956, Huangtu Township and Huahu Township merged into Huangtu township.
In October 1957, Huangtu Township and Huangcun Township were merged into Huangtu township.
In 1958, Huangtu people's commune was established.
In 1983, Huangtu people's commune was changed into Huangtu township.
In July 1987, Huangtu township was removed and Huangtu town was built.
In June 2001, Huangtu town was merged with Shizhuang Town, still known as Huangtu town.

Taohuagang, xiheng River and Lida River are connected to the Yangtze River in the north and Taihu Lake in the south.

Median clay
The middle albic soil layer is more than 10 cm thick, with high silt content, more iron and manganese nodules in the sediment layer, low fertility, general ventilation and water permeability, and basically coordinated water, fertilizer, gas and heat. Silt loam

Huangtu town ecological park, located in Huangtu Town, Jiangyin City, is composed of artificial lake, waterfront activity center, Jiuqu bridge, hydrophilic platform, gate court, basketball court fitness area and a large square covering an area of 7000 square meters, providing a place for people's leisure exercise and large-scale literary and artistic activities. Gaochengdun Liangzhu Cultural site is located in gaochengdun village, Huangtu town. It is a Gaotai cemetery with strict layout planning and strict construction methods in Liangzhu period. In 1999, the Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of cultural relics carried out a rescue excavation and found 14 large and medium-sized tombs in the middle and late Liangzhu period, with 238 artifacts (groups).
