Historical evolution
If you go south, you will fight a battle
Starting from Xiaogan City, it takes 40 minutes to arrive at Xiaochang County. Take a bus from the county passenger station and walk about 5 kilometers to the old street, the democratic Street of Huayuan Town, which is located on the Bank of Chu River.
Huayuan town is known as an important town in the north of Chu. Located at the intersection of Dabie Mountains and Jianghan Plain, Huayuan town was an important military fortress of Chu as early as the spring and Autumn period. Since ancient times, it has been said that "occupy the garden and compete with the Central Plains".
According to historical data, there were dozens of battles in Huayuan town. Yue Fei of the Southern Song Dynasty went north to fight against the Jin soldiers. Li Zicheng and Zhang Xianzhong of the late Ming Dynasty joined forces in Huayuan town and won three passes in succession to Xinyang. During the Anti Japanese War, Huayuan town was completely destroyed by the invaders. Such a special geographical environment made Huayuan town a must fight in the war of liberation.
"After the beginning of the war of liberation, it was close to the Dabie Mountains, and it was also a commodity distribution center. For this reason, the fighting between the guerrillas and the armed forces of the military regions and the Kuomintang Garrison has been going on intermittently." Shi Xiu, a publicity committee member of Huayuan Town, told reporters that according to records, the PLA captured Huayuan town three times during the whole war of liberation.
Annihilate the enemy by 2000, and severely damage the trump card army of Guangxi
Ding Yinqiao, an 82 year old retired cadre, has a regret that he failed to take part in the battle to liberate his hometown. He told reporters that after the war of liberation, his troops belonged to the second field army, mainly fighting in the Huaihai Campaign, while his hometown Huayuan town was carried out by brother troops of the Central Plains military region.
In the late March of 1949, the 171 division of GUI troops of KMT went to Huayuan town and its surrounding areas for stationing. Relying on its superior equipment and number of troops, the troops often raided the people's armed forces around Huayuan town.
At this time, the war of liberation had been going on for three years, and fundamental changes began to take place in the strength of the enemy and ourselves. In order to cooperate with the upcoming southward movement of the PLA, the Central Plains Military Region decided that the 38th army of the Tongbai military region under the Central Plains military region and the Jianghan military region jointly launched the "Huayuan campaign", aiming to completely eliminate the Kuomintang troops occupying Huayuan town. After a fierce battle, more than 2000 enemies were annihilated in this campaign, which severely damaged the seventh army of Guangxi's ace army, clearing the way for the advance corps of the people's Liberation Army to move southward to Wuhan.
Walking on the streets of Huayuanzhen, you can hardly see the houses of earlier ages. Shi Xiu told reporters that Huayuan town had always been a battleground for military strategists during the war, and was often harassed by artillery fire. Dozens of meters away from the government of Huayuan town to the direction of Chu River, there was a stone bridge that was only half bombed.
"The stone bridge was blown up by the Japanese in those days. When people in the garden saw the stone bridge, they would think of the humiliating history." Shi Xiu said that the other side of the river was the battlefield of the Liberation Army in Huayuan town. The reporter saw that the battlefield in the past is now covered with rape flowers, and several students are walking around leisurely. Not far from Duanshi bridge, two new bridges have been built.
"Acting as provincial capital", a special duty in wartime
In March 1949, the Central Plains bureau held a meeting in Kaifeng, Henan Province, and officially announced the establishment of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, the provincial people's government, and the provincial military region. In late April of the same year, personnel from the party committees, administrative offices and military regions of Hubei Henan, Jianghan and Tongbai liberated areas gathered in Huayuan town of Xiaogan county. After they stationed in Huayuan Town, they announced the new division of Hubei Province, that is, the whole province is divided into nine regions (Huanggang, Xiaogan, Mianyang, Xiangyang, Yunyang, Jingzhou, Daye, Yichang and Enshi), two cities (Yichang and Shashi), and one mining area (Huangshi) )。
In early May, the main cadres meeting of three districts was held in sunjiafan ancestral hall of Huayuan town. The meeting decided that Li Xiannian would be Secretary of the Hubei provincial Party committee, chairman of the Hubei Provincial People's government, commander and political commissar of the military region of Hubei Province.
On May 20, 1949, the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, the provincial people's government, and the provincial military region were officially established in Huayuan town. The relevant staff began to work and the organization began to operate. At that time, Che Yonghua, a 72 year old retired cadre from Huayuan town in 2012, still has a fresh memory. "Xuanhua town at that time was like a" acting provincial city ". There were so many provincial leaders here. Until now, we old people who had met Li Xiannian can remember what he looked like."
"In the 1960s and 1970s, the relevant departments began to collect some information and articles about the war of liberation. I happened to be engaged in civil affairs work in Jidian township. A local farmer turned out a chair made by Li Xiannian himself from his home. Later, we gave the chair to the museum. " Che Yonghua told reporters that at that time, many people's homes had items left by the PLA.
For Huayuan Town, the most regrettable thing is that the former site of the provincial Party committee, provincial government and other relevant departments has disappeared. Shi Xiu told reporters that with the continuous development of the material and cultural life of the residents in the town, the former sunjiafan ancestral hall happened to be between the houses of several families and was eventually demolished.
Economics
Agriculture
In 2012, Huayuan town made great efforts to adjust the agricultural structure and implement the development of agricultural bases. It has successively developed nearly 10 bases of early nectarine, nectarine and Chinese herbal medicine, with a total area of more than 8000 mu. It has opened up characteristic agricultural production bases such as "ten thousand gardens" and "one hundred vegetable gardens". All the bases will bring great economic and social benefits in the near future.
Industry and Commerce
Garden industry and Commerce started early. As early as the Ming and Qing Dynasties, garden was a place where merchants gathered and workshops were numerous. After the reform and opening up, the industry and Commerce of garden continued to develop and grow, and gradually formed six industrial pillar industries, including chemical industry, building materials, textile, food processing, clothing and light industry.
Now it has dozens of collective enterprises, and private enterprises are scattered all over the world. Among them, Huayuan glass factory, Huayuan Chemical Factory, Huayuan youth silk factory and other enterprises have strong strength and remarkable benefits. Their flat glass and glassware, bridge PVC waterproof membrane, Jungang silk, Prince's cloth, security silk, breeches cloth are sold all over the country. Especially in 2012, the garden has developed more preferential policies to promote the sustainable development
