Xiaoyi is located in the urban area of Gongyi, north of the west of Gongyi. Its geographical coordinates are 34 ° 45 ′ n, 112 ° 58 ′ e, 10 km long from east to west and 8.1 km wide from north to south. The name of Xiaoyi town can be traced back to the Eastern Han Dynasty: a place in Xiaobei village, called Zaoyuan in ancient times. There are three brothers of Tian family living in the village. Their father's last words are that the brothers should work together to revitalize their family and not separate their families. After his father died, his sister-in-law had no choice but to separate, ready to cut a bauhinia tree into three parts. The tree died of scorch. After the founding of new China, Xiaoyi town government was established. After the cooperation, it was called Xiaoyi commune. In April 1982, it was renamed Chengguan Town, and in April 1986, it was renamed Xiaoyi town again.
