Wulonggou Great Wall, located in Wulonggou Township, Laiyuan County, was built in the first year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1573) and completed in the autumn of the second year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1574). Its main function is to guard the invading enemies from Xuanhua, Wei County, feihukou, dongtuanbao and along the Wulong River. It is a part of the inner Great Wall. Laiyuan is 22.2 kilometers long, with 71 enemy towers, 8 Battle Towers, 7 horse faces and 5 beacon towers.
According to the "Yueshi stele" and documents in Wulonggou, "the great wall of Wulonggou is under the jurisdiction of Zijingguan Road, Zhenbao town." Wulonggou castle was built in the 26th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1547), and the urn city was built in the 20th to 22nd year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1592-1594).
The gate of the great wall of Wulonggou is about three meters high, with three characters of "zhenshuo gate" written on it. The first one is "Wanli Jiawu Mid Autumn Festival auspicious day", the second one is "qinyi Wulonggou set up the General Wang Guozhen", and the gate is in the form of an urn city. The enemy towers are tall and dense. There are more than ten within a kilometer. Some of them stretch forward and support each other with the enemy towers on the back and side.
The wall of Wulonggou Great Wall is built with rubble, compacted with gravel and soil, and pointed with white ash. The enemy tower is built with stone, and the building body is a brick and stone arch structure of corridor type, with one door and 12 arrow windows. There are passageways between the upper and lower floors. Crenels are built around the galleries. Flower shaped eaves are decorated between the galleries. The galleries are used to deal with brick and wood structure cottages. The battle platform, the horse face and the beacon tower are all built with rubble, and the inside is compacted with gravel and soil.
One kilometer to the east of Wulonggou Great Wall, Wulonggou castle is an irregular rectangle with one side of the mountain and three sides of the river. The walls and gates are built with stone, and the gates are set on the West and south sides. Outside the north wall, there is a place for military training. The plaque on the gate of the South urn is "Yijing gate", while the plaque on the gate of the West urn is "zhenshuo gate".
On June 25, 2001, the great wall of Wulonggou was announced as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council of the people's Republic of China.
