Huangmei Township, belonging to Yu County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, is located in the northeast of Yu County, bordering jijiazhuang town in the East, xihezhe town in the south, chenjiawa Township across Huliu River in the west, and beishuiquan town in the north. In the Han Dynasty, Huangmei township was the administrative center of Dangcheng County; in 1984, it was changed from Huangmei commune to Huangmei township. In the Han Dynasty, Huangmei township was the administrative center of Dangcheng county.
In Liao, Jin and Yuan Dynasties, it was the administrative center of Ding'an County.
At the beginning of the Republic of China, it belonged to six districts of Yu County. In 1944, it belonged to weizhuozhuan United county. In 1945, it was restored to six districts of Yu County.
In 1953, Huangmei township was established.
In 1956, it belonged to Heibu and yandunzhuang respectively.
In 1958, it belonged to beishuiquan and jijiazhuang communes.
In 1961, it was established as Huangmei Temple commune.
In 1966, Zhaojiazhai commune was merged into Huangmei Temple commune; in the same year, Huangmei Temple commune was renamed Huangmei commune.
In 1984, it was changed from Huangmei commune to Huangmei township.
