The legend of Yang Jiajiang shows the group image of a heroic family. At the time of foreign invasion and national peril, the Yang family will stand up to the strong enemy and fight bravely. Its strong, strong and heroic spirit of daring to sacrifice shows the indomitable national spirit of the Chinese people. The legend of Mu Guiying, as an integral part of the legend of Yang family generals, shows the joys and sorrows of a woman who has been through the battlefield for a long time, and conveys the deep love of the masses for the beautiful and brave heroine Mu Guiying. The legend of Yang Jiajiang (mu Guiying) is of great historical and cultural value, and also of great ideological and educational significance.
The legend of Mu Guiying in the Yanshan area of Fangshan District of Beijing is based on the love between mother and son. The characters are vivid and the language is simple, vivid and simple. Among them, the legends with the theme of maternal love such as "milk stone", "yangeryu" and "wangertai" are especially precious, reflecting the real face of social life in Liao and Song dynasties. They have a wide range of mass and folk heritage, and are the outstanding forms of local traditional folk culture. They have high academic research value in sociology, ethnology and other aspects. With the acceleration of the modernization process, people's ideas are undergoing dramatic changes, the number of inheritors is decreasing, and the cultural space for legend spreading is shrinking. The inheritance of Mu Guiying's legend is not optimistic, so we must strengthen the protection in time.
On June 7, 2008, the legend of Yang Jiajiang (the legend of Mu Guiying) was announced as the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list by the State Council.
