Datun town
Datuan town is a town under the jurisdiction of Pudong New Area. It is located in the southeast of Pudong New Area in Shanghai. It was founded in 1568 (the second year of Longqing in Ming Dynasty). Datuan town is adjacent to Peng town and Wanxiang town in the East, Xuanqiao town in the west, Situan town and Shaochang town in Fengxian County in the south, and Sandun town in the north. Datuan town is about 8.70 km long from east to west, 2.90 km wide from north to south, with an area of 50.57 square kilometers and a population of 66071 (in 2017). Six main lines, including Shanghai suburban Ring Road and Nanlu highway, run through the town, making it an important town in the southeast of Pudong New Area.
Evolution of organizational system
In 1726, Nanhui County was established. Datuan area belongs to Nanhui County, Songjiang Prefecture, Jiangsu Province. It is a salt farm in Changren village. In 1911, Datuan township was built in Nanhui County. Later, it was renamed Datuan Township Office of Nanhui County. In 1929, Datun town was set up. From the 18th to the 36th year of the Republic of China (1929-1947), Datuan Prefecture was subordinate to the eighth District Office of Nanhui County, Songjiang Prefecture, Jiangsu Province. During this period: in July of 1939, the grand League maintenance Committee was established. The grand League area was subordinate to the eighth division of Nanhui special district, Songjiang District, Shanghai special city. In 1945, the old system was restored and it was still the eighth district office. In May 1949, the Datuan area was under the jurisdiction of the sixth Township Joint Office of Nanhui County. In November, the sixth Township Joint Office of Nanhui County was changed to Datuan district government. Datuan District governs 16 townships including Datuan Town, Peng Town, huimao, tangzhai, Nicheng, Machang, Suqiao, xinwan, BeiYao, Shuyuan, Xinshi, Daqiao, Jinling, Zhongxin, tuandong, Tuanbei and Tuanxi. On March 15, 1950, Datuan was divided into Datuan and Nicheng. In 1956, the former Datun town became a county town of Nanhui County. In September 1957, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged. Taking qingongtang as the boundary, Jinling township was built in the east of the pond and Datun township was built in the west of the pond. In September 1958, the people's commune system of integrating government and society was implemented, and five residents committees were set up in Datun town. The people's commune of Datun was organized into 11 battalions. Since November 21, 1958, Nanhui County has been subordinate to Shanghai. In May 1959, the original Datun town was separated from the Datun people's commune. In 1959, Nanhui County separated three brigades, Jinling, Sandun and Tuanxin, from the Datun people's commune, and built another Sandun people's commune. In 1961, Luqiao, Sande and Xingdi were separated from Datuan people's Commune and returned to Xuanqiao people's commune. In May 1994, the former Datun town and Datun Township were abolished and a new Datun town was established, with 17 administrative villages and 6 residents' committees under its jurisdiction. In August 2001, Datun town was subordinate to Nanhui District of Shanghai. In May 2003, the former Datun town and Sandun town were abolished and a new Datun town was established.

In May 1980, the central brigade of Datuan people's commune was renamed Jinshi brigade. At the end of 1980, the Revolutionary Committee of the Tuan people's commune was abolished, and the commune and brigade established a management committee. In February 1984, the organizational system of the commune was abolished, and Datun township was established. The brigade was changed into an administrative village, and the production team into a villager group. Datun township has 17 administrative villages and 166 villager groups. Datun town has 5 residents committees and 45 residents groups. In 1987, a Nanwan residents committee was set up in Datun town. In May 1994, with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People's government, the original organizational system of Datuan town and Datuan township was abolished, and a new Datuan town was merged to implement the system of town governing village. By the end of 2001, there were 16 administrative villages and 166 villager groups in Datuan Town, including Zhennan, Yachang, Chezhan, Jinshi, Dayang, shamiao, Longtan, Haichao, Miaoxi, ShaoZhai, Dongcun, chaichang, zhaoqiao, Wangting, Tuanxi and Guoyuan. Datuanji town has 6 residents committees and 50 residents groups, including NANDA, Nanping, Zhongda, Beida, Panlong and Nanwan.

Datun town is located in the east of Huangpu River, bordering on the coast of the East China Sea. It is located at 30 '58' 30 N and 12144 'E. Datuan town is adjacent to Peng town and Wanxiang town in the East, Xuanqiao town in the west, Situan town and Shaochang town in Fengxian County in the south, and Sandun town in the north. Datun town is about 8.70 km long from east to west, with an average width of 2.90 km from north to south. The narrowest part is located in Datun market town, with a width of only 1.80 km. It covers a total area of 26 square kilometers, with a cultivated area of 1204 hectares. Datun town is 12 kilometers away from Nanhui County, 60 kilometers away from Shanghai People's Square, 18 kilometers away from Shanghai Pudong International Airport and 8 kilometers away from Luchao port.
Geology and geomorphology
Datun town is located in the southeast edge of the Yangtze River Delta. It is an alluvial plain formed by the sediment of the Yangtze River. It belongs to the early coastal plain area. It is mainly composed of loam and silty fine sand. The soil is mainly yellow mud and sand mud. Datun town is flat with an average elevation of 4.40 meters, slightly higher in the East, 4.60 meters in Longtan Village and Jinshi village, slightly lower in the west, and 3.84 meters in zhangjiadang and taojiadang in Zhennan village.
