Tashi Yao Shui nationality township is located in the northwest of Rongjiang County, Guizhou Province. It was founded in August 1984. It is a newly built ethnic township in the institutional reform of "withdrawal, merger and construction" in 1992. It is one of the key poverty alleviation townships in the "two mountains" area and one of the 17 ethnic townships in Qiandongnan Prefecture. It is known as the "hometown of Xiangyang".

Tashi Yao Shui nationality township is located at the south foot of Leigong Mountain, adjacent to Yongle Town and Dadi Shui nationality township of Leishan County, and Pingyong Town, Sanjiang Shui nationality township and Pingyang township of Rongjiang county. The Township People's government is 65 kilometers away from Rongjiang county and 105 kilometers away from Kaili, the state capital. Lurong highway passes through the territory and is the northwest gate of Rongjiang county.

Tashi Yao Shui Township covers an area of 86 square kilometers, which governs 4 central villages, 75 natural villages and 85 villager groups, inhabiting Yao, Shui, Miao, Han, Dong and other nationalities. By the end of 2014, there were 3042 households and 11023 people in the township, including 10777 agricultural population and 10017 ethnic minority population, accounting for 97.76% and 90.87% of the total population respectively. The cultivated land area of the township is 5460 mu (including 4994 mu of paddy field), the per capita cultivated land area is 0.5 mu, and the per capita net income of farmers is 5400 yuan.

Tashi Yao Shui nationality township is located in the deep mountain gorge, which is the source of the Duliu river. There are many ravines and mountains in the township. The average altitude of the township is 1065 meters, the highest is 1620 meters in Beizhu mountain, and the lowest is 510 meters in the foot of Huodong village. The annual accumulated temperature is 5991.4 ℃, precipitation is 1920.5 ml, and frost free period is 335 days. Tashi River, with a total length of 22.5km, meanders through. It is rich in water resources, mild climate, obvious three-dimensional climate, abundant rainfall, rich species, no severe cold in winter and no severe heat in summer. It is suitable for the survival and reproduction of a variety of organisms.

There are many kinds of wild animals and plants, such as Eucommia ulmoides Oliv, Gastrodia elata, Zingiber officinale, unicorn lotus, Panax notoginseng, etc. rare species mainly include Phoebe, Taiwania flousiana, Taxus chinensis, camphor wood, beech, etc. wild animals mainly include wild boar, bamboo rat, pheasant, red bellied pheasant, monkey, wild goat, etc. It is rich in forest resources, with an area of 86178 mu, a total timber stock of about 170000 cubic meters, and a forest coverage rate of 75%. It is one of the main timber producing areas in Rongjiang County, rich in high-quality timber such as fir, pine and bamboo. The main mineral resources are antimony deposits in ganhegou, sujialing and Wumei. Water resources have been fully utilized. There are three small cascade power stations in the territory, and wind resources will be further developed and utilized.
