Tongshi town
Tongshi Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Pingjiang County, Yueyang City, Hunan Province, is 21 kilometers away from the county seat. It is adjacent to duzhuang and xiejiang villages in Yongsheng Township and Fuxing and Jiayi township of Pingjiang County in the East, paddy fields, Wade and Baili villages in Meixian town in the west, Miyan, Baiyan and Hexing villages in Sanyang Township in the southwest, Hengjiang, Yaotang and Tanjiang villages in Sanyang Township in the south, Zhiyi, Bali and Baili villages in Sandun Township in the north Zhiping. It was originally named Zhongdong, because it is located in the middle of the county and has many caves, so it was named Zhongdong, and later evolved into "Zhongdong". When the district was removed and the township was merged in May 1995, Zhongdong and Enxi townships in the former Zhongdong district were merged into Zhongdong township. When the township was removed and the town was built in November 2001, it was located in Tongping, which became a small mountainous city, so it was called Tongshi town.
By the end of 2003, Tongshi town had a total area of 158.79 square kilometers, under the jurisdiction of 1 neighborhood committee, 27 administrative villages and 364 Village (residents) groups, with a total number of 8003 households and a population of 27005 (2017). In 2013, after the adjustment of village planning, yueao and Xinle were merged into Xinyue village, shaping and xiedong into Jinsha village, and Tianhe, Hezhong and Shijian into Tianhe Village.
