Hanchang Street
Hanchang street is the seat of Pingjiang County in Yueyang, Hunan Province. It was called Heling in ancient times, and used to be called Chengguan town and Hanchang town. It is located in the northeast of Hunan Province and the southwest of Pingjiang county. It is adjacent to Tianyue street. The Miluo River passes through the city and is located in the middle reaches. The history of building the city has been more than a thousand years since the fourth year of Tianbao in Tang Dynasty (809).
The Han street is the economic, political, cultural and ecological center of Pingjiang. The area of the town is 63.1 square kilometers, the cultivated land area is 614 mu, the resident population is 120 thousand, the registered residence population is 90 thousand and 681, and the fiscal revenue in 2018 is 46 million 346 thousand yuan.

urban development
In 809, Changjiang County was moved from zhongxianping to Heling, which was named after the fact that storks often lived there. At this time, the city was only limited to the North Bank of Mishui river.
In 923, Changjiang County was changed into Pingjiang County, and the county government remained unchanged.
In 1935, Heling was renamed Hanchang town (in the late Han Dynasty, the eastern part of Luo County was divided into Hanchang County, from which Hanchang town got its name).
In 1950, Hanchang town was renamed Chengguan Town, which was taken from here as Chengguan town.
Chengguan town was renamed penghuang commune in 1958, Chengguan commune in 1960, and Chengguan town was restored in 1964.
In 1995, Chengguan Town merged with Dongyuan township (the first community of township government), and Hanchang and Chengguan were mixed.
In 2008, Chengguan Town merged with Tianyue Economic Development Zone to restore the name of Hanchang town. The built-up area is divided into old urban area and new urban area by taking both sides of Miluo River as the boundary.
In 2020, the administrative area of the original Hanchang town will be the jurisdiction of the newly established Hanchang street.
Historical site
Qu Yuan sank himself in chengtan village, Hanchang street. Now there is a stone tablet where Qu Yuan died for his country. Du Fu left his last poem in his later years when he was exiled in Pingjiang, which vividly depicts the beautiful landscape of Hanchang street with "haze and white house in water town, green and Cen on Maple bank". Huang Tingjian also wrote poems such as "from baling to Pingjiang, Linxiang to Tongcheng, rain every day, to Huanglong Fengye".

Hanchang street is a subtropical monsoon climate zone with four distinct seasons, abundant rainfall, sufficient light and long frost free period. Hanchang street is mainly composed of hills and plains. The built-up areas are concentrated on both sides of Jinshazhou section of Miluo River. The overall terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. In the area under the jurisdiction of Hanchang street, the Miluo River passes through the city. It flows into Xianjiang River and sanwangchong river at liujiatan, into Huaqiao river at Huaqiao, into Jiashan river at sanyangpi, into Quchi River in the west of the city, and into simaqiao river at simaqiao. Among them, Xianjiang is the largest tributary of Hanchang section of Miluo River. The mountain range in the north of Hanchang street is Mufu Yumai, and the highest point in the north of the city is Yangjiao mountain. The highest place in the south of the city is xiaotianyue mountain, with Tianyue ancient temple.

Economics
The whole street has 614 mu of cultivated land, 474 mu of paddy field, 140 mu of dry land and 0.5 mu of cultivated land per capita. The main planting industries are vegetables, rice, flowers and herbs. The forest land area is 2496 mu, accounting for 47.8% of the total land area, and the forest coverage rate is 52.1%. The streets are mainly for breeding black goats, pigs and beef cattle. (the above data are as of 2003).
Street enterprises have submersible pumps, chemical, cotton spinning, agricultural machinery, building materials, printing, crafts, tea, matches, food processing plants, specialty flower paper umbrellas, flower paper fans and other crafts. Transportation
Hanchang street is an important transportation hub in Pingjiang county and even in the south of Yueyang. There are Quchi Road, Tianyue Avenue and Dongxing Avenue in the north and south trunk roads of the street. There are Shouping road and xiuye Avenue in the East and West trunk roads. Chengguan section of Pingwu highway starts from here. There are liujiatan bridge, Bitan bridge, Pingjiang bridge, yanjiatan bridge and Tianyue square pedestrian landscape bridge in Hanchang street. Baihuatai community of Hanchang street is equipped with Pingjiang Tianyue bus station and two passenger service areas, i.e. short distance within the county and long distance within and outside the province.

Local culture
The first organization of the Communist Party of China in Pingjiang was established in Hanchang street. The great victory of the National Revolutionary Army in the northern expedition to Pingjiang and the March Pucheng and Pingjiang uprising that shocked the whole country all took place here. Pingjiang workers' and peasants' Volunteer Army, one of the main forces of the first workers' and peasants' Red Army of the Chinese revolution, was born here. Following Mao Zedong to participate in the Autumn Harvest Uprising, they went to Jinggangshan and founded the Fourth Red Army. In 1930, the third red army launched 200000 agricultural troops from here to conquer Changsha, setting a record for the first time that the workers' and peasants' Red Army captured the provincial capital city.
Hanchang street is the location of the film "angry tide", the TV series "Pingjiang uprising", and the host of China (Hunan) Red Tourism Culture Festival. It is one of the important cultural towns in Yueyang. It has cultivated famous figures in the cultural circles, such as artist Zhou Lingzhao, writer Peng Jianming, and TV artist pan Liping.
The residents of Hanchang Street run the Hanchang dialect of Pingjiang dialect, which belongs to the small Nanchang dialect of Jiangxi Changdu dialect and communicates with the northern residents of Liuyang City and Changsha County.
