Maoshi Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Hengnan County, Hengyang City, Hunan Province, is located in the south of Hengyang City, bordering sulfur town in the East, Zhoushi Township in the northeast, Weizhou town in the south, grain town and niaojiang town in Qidong County in the southwest and West, and zhashi town in the north, with an administrative area of 158 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, the number of registered residence in Maicheng town was 62536.
In February 1984, the commune was withdrawn and the township was built. In August 1984, Maoshi township was abolished and Maoshi town was established. On May 8, 1995, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged. Changsha Township and doushanqiao Township were merged into Maoshi town. As of June 2020, Maoshi town has jurisdiction over 3 communities and 22 administrative villages.
In 2011, the total revenue of Maoshi town was 4.11 million yuan, of which the local revenue was 106 million yuan, an increase of 41% over the previous year. From the perspective of major taxes, the business tax was 2.84 million yuan, the value-added tax was 275000 yuan, and the per capita revenue was 5938 yuan, an increase of 40% over the previous year. In 2018, there was one industrial enterprise in Maoshi Town, including one above scale and four comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
History of construction
In October 1949, it was subordinate to the 15th District of Hengyang County.
In July 1952, it belongs to the Ninth District of Hengnan County.
In June 1955, it was renamed Maoshi district.
In May 1956, Maoshi district was divided into four townships: Maoshi, zhashi, Daqiao and Songtao.
In September 1958, Maoshi township was transformed into Xianfeng and happy people's commune.
In 1959, Xianfeng and Xingfu people's commune merged into maodongqiao people's commune.
In June 1961, it was divided into district branches.
In January 1974, due to the construction of doushanqiao reservoir, Hongyan commune of Qidong County was assigned to Maoshi District of Hengnan County.
In February 1984, the commune was withdrawn and the township was built.
