Xijia township is located in the south of Tunliu District, Changzhi City. The geographical coordinates of the township government are 112 ° 51 ′ E and 36 ° 16 ′ n, 5km away from the county seat, 9km long from east to west and 5km wide from north to south, with a total area of 52.35km2. The township government is located in Xijia village, bordering Ligao Township in the East, Fengyi town in the west, Baodian town in Changzi County in the South and Linjiang town in the north. Xijia township was established in 1953. In 1958, the Tuen Chang two counties merged and abolished Xijia Township, which was under the jurisdiction of Baodian Town People's commune. In May 1961, the two counties separated. In the same year, Xijia Township People's commune management committee was established. In 1966, Xijia commune reform committee was established. In 1981, Xijia commune management committee was established. In 1985, Xijia Township People's government was established. Xijia township has 16 administrative villages including Xijia, Dongjia, teahouse, Luozhuang, wulizhuang, Ducun, Zhangcun, Dongzhuang, Houzhai, Weicun, niujiaochuan, Zhaojiagou, Lijiagou, cuiguo, beibidian and Miaoling.

When Xijia township was established in 1953, there were 1292 households with 4911 people; in 1978, there were 2245 households with 10244 people; in 1995, there were 2971 households with 11860 people; by 2010, there were 3421 households with 13004 people, mainly Han nationality. The cultivated land area was 33384 mu in 1953, 33224 mu in 1978, 32715 mu in 1995 and 32700 mu in 2010. as of 2017, the total population is 13393.
