Since 1998, we have increased investment in science and technology education and actively encouraged all sectors of society to donate money to run schools. In particular, with the efforts of Lai Jirui, director of the provincial forestry department, we have raised 3 million yuan to build a new nine-year compulsory education school, Tanghu school. The township has invested more than 5.8 million yuan to build nearly 10000 square meters of school buildings. The conditions for running schools in primary and secondary schools have been improved, and the quality of education has been steadily improved. From 1988 to 2000, the township successively put forward the economic development strategy of "prospering the township through science and technology, strengthening the township through industry and trade". The township's economy developed continuously and healthily, and all social undertakings made comprehensive progress. In 2000, the total social output value was 83.01 million yuan, an increase of 97.5% over 42.04 million yuan in 1988,
Among them, the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery was 60.48 million yuan, 12.3 times higher than that of 4.5564 million yuan in 1988; the total industrial output value was 8.06 million yuan, 5.3 times higher than that of 1.28 million yuan in 1988; the fiscal revenue was 1.3 million yuan, 1.9 times higher than that of 450000 yuan in 1988; the per capita net income of farmers was 1938 yuan, 3.17 times higher than that of 465 yuan in 1988.
Since 1988, the township has taken stabilizing agriculture and rural work as a strategic measure for building a well-off society. It has vigorously carried out comprehensive mountain development and focused on bamboo mountain reclamation. Nearly 10000 mu of bamboo forest in the township has achieved good ecological and social benefits. By adjusting the field planting structure, the demonstration of medium rice ratoon rice was successful, and the grain yield per mu increased by 250 kg. It was fully promoted in the township and was praised by the municipal government.
We should make full use of the abundant mountain resources and geothermal resources, actively develop the breeding industry, strive for the investment of 3.85 million yuan from the provincial forestry department, establish a 1000 mu forest and fruit farm in Tanghu village, and plant oranges and pomelo. The adjustment of agricultural structure has not only improved the economic benefits of agriculture, but also cultivated a number of large farmers in planting and breeding industry. For example, a turtle base with 20 mu of water surface is cultivated by a farmer in Tanghu village, with an annual income of 1.5 million yuan. Some large growers have pomelo, citrus and other orchards of 150 mu, with an output value of 850000 yuan. The products are exported to Guangdong, Shanghai and other places.
Forestry production adheres to the principle of "sealing, managing and manufacturing" all the year round, with remarkable achievements. In 1995, it passed the provincial afforestation acceptance and was awarded the title of "afforestation qualified township". In 2000, the cultivated land area of the township was 18035 mu, 776 Mu less than that in 1988. The total grain output was 10458 tons, 4536 tons more than that in 1988, an increase of 77%. Among them, 610 tons of oranges accounted for 76% of the total fruit production; 19667 pigs were sold and 1579 pigs were in stock, an increase of 3316% and 159% respectively over 1988; 1713 tons of meat production, an increase of 218% over 1988; 74.4% of forest coverage, 246000 cubic meters of forest and livestock, an increase of 9.4 percentage points and a decrease of 60000 cubic meters respectively over 1988.
From 1988 to 2000, township enterprises developed rapidly, and the deep processing of wood and stone materials promoted the economic development of the whole township. Actively do a good job in the export of labor services, the township exports thousands of labor services every year, with an annual income of more than 20 million yuan. Among them, two have become multimillionaires. They have donated 80000 yuan to build shangxiawu primary school and 1.5 km of cement road.
