Xuzhen town is a town under the jurisdiction of Nanling County, Anhui Province. It is located in the north of Nanling County, Wuhu City, Anhui Province, 27 km away from Wuhu City, with an area of 177.54 square kilometers (2017) and a population of 79812 (2017). Xu town is a combination of huangmu Town, Dongtang Town, Taifeng Town, Kuihu Town, huangtang town and Xianfang town.
Historical evolution
Xuzhen town is a town under the jurisdiction of Nanling County, Wuhu City, Anhui Province. Xu town is a famous historical and cultural town with thousands of years of history. During the Three Kingdoms period, Huang Gai, the great general of the eastern Wu Dynasty, once stationed troops here. After his death, he was buried here. The existing historic site is "Huang Tomb". Xuzhen used to be the hometown of wine. The "xianjiufang" (now Xianfang) in Xuzhen is an ancient wine making site. The former huangmu town is located in the north of Nanling County and the southwest of xialinduwei. There is huanggai tomb in the south of the street. There is a ferry in the town, so it is called huangmu ferry. In 1910, it belonged to BEIXIANG. In 1939, huangmu township was established, belonging to huangmu district. In the early days of liberation, the township was named Yanjiu, and the administrative villages of huangmu, Yongyuan, Guocheng, dingtang, Yanghe, Xintang and Zhongtang were built, belonging to huangmu district.
In February 1950, the township was abandoned and the administrative village remained unchanged, belonging to the ninth district. In 1952, three townships, huangmu, Guocheng and Xinzhong, were set up. Yuanxianfang township is located in the north of Nanling County, west of shanglinduwei. In 1910, it belonged to BEIXIANG. Qingpu township was set up in 1939, belonging to huangmu district. After liberation, the township name along the old, jianxianfang, Dapu, Nanzhuang, Qingcheng, Dongcun, Maren, Wangyang, Linshang, Nansong administrative village, belong to huangmu district. In 1950, the township was abandoned and rebuilt into Xianfang, Dapu, Nanzhuang, shangqingcheng, xiaqingcheng, Xuzhen, Dongcun, Maren, Linshang, Wangyang and shangnansong administrative villages, belonging to the eighth district. Four townships, Xianfang, Qingcheng, Xuzhen and Maren, were established in July 1952, and merged into two townships, Xianfang and Xuzhen, in January 1956. The former Kuihu township is located in the northernmost part of Nanling County, 26.3 kilometers away from the county. The town is named after the lake. In 1910, it belonged to BEIXIANG. Kuihu township was established in 1939, belonging to huangmu district. At the beginning of liberation, the township was named Yanjiu, Jiankui Town, Fuliu, Wenge, Gongshang, Dongcun and Jianhe administrative village, belonging to huangmu district. In February 1950, the township was abandoned and rebuilt into Kuihu, Wenge, Fuliu, Gongshan, Dongsheng and Jianfu administrative villages, belonging to the ninth district.
In July 1952, the four townships of jiankuihu, Dongshan, Jianfu and Taomu were merged into Kuihu Township on January 4, 1956, all belonging to huangmu district. Longtan Township was established in 1939, belonging to the huangmu district. After liberation, township name along the old, built Shahe, Anxi, Chongsheng, Sanhe administrative village, belong to huangmu district. In 1950, the township was abandoned and the administrative village remained unchanged, belonging to the eighth district. Dongtang Township and Minhe Township were established in July 1952 and merged into Dongtang Township in January 1956, both of which belong to Jinge district.
It belonged to Xuzhen District in 1957 and Xuzhen commune in October of the next year. Dongtang commune was established in September 1961, and the township was changed in April 1984. The former Taifeng township is located in Taifeng polder in the northeast of Nanling County, 18.8 kilometers away from the county. In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Jinling Township and Dongxiang Township in 1910. Taifeng township was established in 1939, belonging to huangmu district. At the beginning of liberation, the township was named Yanjiu, Jianli village, Mayuan, zhengtan, Huamin, Gulin, Beidou, Jinge and Maozhen administrative villages, belonging to huangmu district. In February 1950, the township was abandoned and the administrative village remained unchanged, belonging to the eighth district. In July 1952, jianmayuan, Jinge, Lichun, Beidou, Maozhen and Hualin were six townships. In January 1956, they were two townships of Mayuan and Jinge, all belonging to Jinge district. Kuihu Township covers an area of 58.5 square kilometers and has a population of 30000. It governs 15 administrative villages including Dongsheng, Beigang, Jianfu, Luqiao, Wenge, Kuihu, Fuliu, Gaoqiao, Xiaodong, Guxu, huangtang, Zhouwang, Dapu, Chihu and Lintang. In 1997, Kuihu township was abolished and Kuihu town was established. The town government was stationed in Kuihu street.
